Unfortunately, work-related injuries happen every day especially when machinery is involved. Most are just minor injuries, but many end up serious if not deadly. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that in 2020 there were 2.1 million non-fatal workplace injuries. While this number seems to decrease from previous years the number is still extremely high.
When you are injured in at work or while on the clock you are entitled to workers comp under the Mississippi Workers Compensation Commission. Determining how long you can collect worker’s comp all depends on your injury. Knowing what to do after an injury at work is important, so make sure you let your supervisor know, make a mental note of witnesses to the injury, and seek medical treatment immediately. Following all of these steps will help in your case when you contact a worker’s comp attorney.
