Bayer Officially Stops Sales of Essure in United States
Bayer has officially stopped selling the Essure birth control implant in the United States, the last country to stop selling the controversial device.  Bayer said their decision to stop sales of Essure was due to declining sales in the U.S., although they still stand by the safety and effectiveness of Essure. The U.S. is the last country where Essure is still being sold. Over 16,000 lawsuits have been filed by women who were injured, Bayer reported earlier this year, claiming they were not warned of the risk of side effects.
Essure was approved in 2002 as a non-surgical alternative to traditional sterilization surgery for women. As the number of complaints grew over the years, the FDA maintained that the benefits of Essure outweighed the risk — but agreed to add stronger warnings.
PLAINTIFFS ALLEGE THAT, HAD THEY BEEN ADEQUATELY INFORMED OF POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF ESSURE, INCLUDING ESSURE FETAL DEATHS, THEY WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN IMPLANTED WITH AN ESSURE BIRTH CONTROL DEVICE AND EFFECTIVELY AVOIDED THESE RISKS ALTOGETHER.
Were you prescribed an Essure Birth Control Implant? If you did and you experienced abdominal pain, heavy bleeding, back pain, pelvic pain, pain during intercourse, abdominal bleeding, excessive weight gain, dental problems, excessive rash/hives, or coil removal/hysterectomy you may qualify for compensation. If the Essure implant separates, breaks and/or moves, attempted removal often requires multiple surgeries, sometimes requiring removal of the uterus entirely.
If you or someone you love has suffered from Essure complications like Essure fetal deaths, you may be able to file an Essure lawsuit. Contact Chhabra & Gibbs, P.A. today to speak to an Essure Attorney by calling 601-948-8005 or by using our live chat or contact form.
